Iraq Appeal (Version Française) (German Version) (Latest Updates) Salaamun Alaikum As most of you are aware, The Lady Fatemah (a.s.) Charitable Trust has been working with the poor in Iraq for over 6 years now. Your generosity has resulted in the distribution of over US$100,000 in food and other basic necessities. Working with reliable volunteers on the ground, we ensure that the most needy receive assistance. Our infrastructure for the distribution of aid is robust and secure in this time of insecurity for the Iraqi people. Organisations and individuals who have raised aid for the victims in Iraq and do not have the necessary contacts for distribution can utilise the Lady Fatemah (a.s.) Charitable Trust distribution network with confidence. As we operate on a 0% commission, no administration costs are deducted from your donation and every £1 donated reaches the needy. Two major wars and over twelve years of crippling sanctions have had a disturbing effect on the civilian population in Iraq. Basic necessities are beyond the means of even the middle class and before the collapse of the regime last week over 60% of the population were dependent on the state ‘s distribution of food rations. These are no longer available and it will be some time before international aid agencies will be able to get adequate food and water to the starving. Over 70% of infant mortality is caused by preventable diseases which can be cured by commonly available and cheap medication readily available in the developed world. According to UNICEF, over 500,000 infants lost their lives over the past decade directly due to the effect of sanctions. In the short to medium term we intend to assist with the distribution of food and other basic necessities. Assistance with the cost of medication where required will also be given. Already we have distributed 3,000 kilos of rice to Iraqi refugees in Damascus. We intend, with your assistance to assist families of the needy in Basra, Kerbala, Najaf, Hilla and other towns effected during the recent war. Some civilians have had their homes bombed and will need alternative shelter. This we will look to assist with in the medium term. If resources allow, we can assist with the construction of schools where required as a more long-term objective. There are thousands of widows and orphans in Iraq whose lives you can change by donating a little to this worthy cause. We can help you to make your gift tax efficient, there are several ways you can assist: - 1.You can visit our web site at www.ladyfatemahtrust.org to make a secure on line donation with your credit card. 2.Our bank details are also set out and you may alternative transfer your donation to our account or even post a cheque to us. 3.You can set up a standing order mandate by instructing your bank to periodically transfer a set amount to our account. Direct Debit mandates can be downloaded from the site. Whatever else you do, please pray for the poor and suffering in Iraq and wherever else they are in the world. Thank you for reading this appeal. Please forward this message to family members and friends to widen its impact. Salaams, Mukhtar A. Karim |
