Humanitarian Relief Projects :
Food and Humanitarian Assistance: The Shaheed Dastgheib Refugee Camp near the Iranian town of Jahrom, about 180 kilometers from Shiraz, houses about 100 mainly Kurdish families. During a recent needs assessment mission, it transpired that the shelters in the camp do not offer sufficient protection from the harsh winter. There are no doors and refugees cover the openings with makeshift curtains that barely ensure privacy, but do not offer any protection from wind, rain, cold and vermin. IRAC in conjunction with LFT proposed to insulate the roofs of all shelters and to install one door per shelter providing each family with a room that can be properly heated during the winter. Similarly elderly, vulnerable Iraqis residing in the Sultaniyah camp in Iran, were provided with a kitchen enabling them to cook healthy nutritious meals, and basic necessities like soap, blankets and clothes. Wheelchairs were provided for 50 Iraqi men and women, giving them independence, freedom and the opportunity to earn a living.

3. Blanket Assistance Project: Over 1000 blankets were purchased in India, and 3,500 blankets in Iraq to protect families from the harsh, unforgiving conditions of winter. Sadly in many instances, the vulnerable and elderly often perish from hypothermia as they have nothing to protect them form these bleak conditions.
4. Gaza and Lebanon War Relief: When emergencies arise, the Trust responds to help rebuild lives. Following the three week bombing of Gaza earlier in the year, thousands of people were left homeless and wounded. Working with the Atfaluna Institute, we sent assistance for food, clothes and blankets as many of the students’ and staffs’ homes had complete or severe damage. In the wake of the bombings in Lebanon in July 2006, The Trust provided relief aid and has been actively assisting the victims of cluster bombs.
5. Disaster relief: In 2008, Emergency disaster relief was also provided to Burma following Cyclone Nargis and to the people affected by the post-election violence in Kenya. The orphanage funded by LFT in Aceh following the Asian Tsunami has been completed and Alhamdulillah 74 orphans now have a home to live and study, thanks to your support. Disaster relief was also sent to Bam following the earthquake that shook Iran in 2006.
