Solar lighting project
This project could be one of the LFT’s most enabling and transforming projects and with your on-going encouragement and support we pray that it exceeds the expectations of the parties that are engaged in making it a reality.

It is difficult to envisage that a short drive away from the shrine of Imam Hussain and Hazrat Abbas (as) there are poor families who are living without access to electricity. The only means of lighting their homes at night available to these families are paraffin lamps. For cooking, they are using either firewood they collect from the surroundings or kerosene to fuel small kerosene cookers.

Project Achievements and Realized Progress.
Background
Ayat al-Moussawi is the sister of Du’a al-Moussawi, who was admitted into LFT’s Educational Support program in the fall of 2009. Ayat needed support as well at the time, but because she was ill, LFT’s social worker and Ayat’s father felt that it would be better to wait before encouraging her to continue her education.
In the meantime, Ayat’s life underwent great changes. With Allah’s help, she recovered from her illness, married and, a month ago, gave birth to her first child. The table below summarizes the situation of her small family:
