- Orphan Care
Between January and March 2011, 150 orphans were sponsored by the LFT, in conjunction with IRAC. The programme involves sponsoring orphans under the age of 15, orphans over the age of 15, but still at school or university, and providing monthly assistance to vulnerable families, which live in orphan-like conditions. An example of the latter is Ali, a young boy suffering from a brain condition, and whose father deserted him in infancy. He requires an EEG every six months and regular medication, and although not an orphan, lives in orphan-like conditions. With the help of the LFT, he has received the medical attention he requires, is able to attend school, and hopes to support his mother one day.
