Life in the North West Frontier Province is hard. Although the area is blessed by a temperate climate and natural beauty and attracts travellers, people in the far-off villages do not benefit from the income from tourism. Their lives revolve, like centuries ago, around agriculture and animal husbandry. Agricultural yields are low and barely ensure survival of the peasant families because there are no irrigation schemes and people have to rely on rainfall for irrigation. Especially families with few or no able-bodied men live below subsistence level.

Young talented youth with technical background and skill in hand, do not have enough resources even from there jobs to support a reasonable living, for themselves and their dependents. There is a strong need to support such youngsters who have drive, talent, skill and lack just a meagre financial need, which if provided can help make them self employed and independent, thereby enabling them to become self sufficient and self sustaining, besides releasing the economic burden of a member of the society.
