Bibi Fatemah Orphanage, Gebrieal, Injil District, Herat Province. Update August, September and October 2010
Overview
The Bibi Fatemah Orphanage in Gebrieal (under the management of APR) has now been in operation for just over 17 months. This report covers 3 months of operation of August, September and October; and the status of 100 orphans who attend Bibi Fatemah Orphanage (G).
The orphanage continues to go from strength to strength with the children continuing to be engaged into life of the orphanage.
Orphan Status: Health, Well Being and Attendance
A total of 21 children were sick through a variety reasons. 5 children were suffering from stomach aches; 5 cases of fever/headaches; 3 cases of toothache; 3 cases of flu; 2 colds and 2 sore throats; plus 1 case of diahorrea. All of these children were absent for 1-2 days from the orphanage.
The children were checked by doctors from the Ehsaniyan hospital; and where necessary were prescribed medication, much of which is ‘over the counter’ medication. The orphanage has built up a good relationship with Ehsaniyan hospital and so the doctors have a good understanding of the children and their family background.

June - One Year Old
It is indeed one year since Bibi Fatemah Orphanage was established in Gebrieal in Injil – that one year has seen the day centre go from strength to strength, where the children have continued to be motivated and enthused to learn. Many lives and families have felt the benefit of the orphanage – naturally the orphan’s and their families; as well as the teachers and their families. Put together this makes for a stronger community and a better future.
