For nearly half a century, Imam Sadr Foundation (ISF) has worked to improve the lives of tens of thousands of men and women throughout Lebanon whether in providing easily accessible health services for families, empowering women and orphans through occupational training programs and educational facilities, or creating strategic partnerships with political and social development organizations. ISF remains dedicated to its original aspirations, as Imam Sayyed Mussa Sadr once said, “Lebanon is our country. It is a country which considers Man to be the first and last asset, and that he should be adequately maintained.” Thus, ISF seeks to bring about social justice, change and equity by working closely with the local communities in Lebanon on health, education and promoting a culture of dialogue and reconciliation. We envisage a to free our people from ignorance, poverty, disease and conflict where each citizen actively participates in the development of our country and enjoys equal rights regardless of his/her faith, gender or any other difference.

The Health Department at Imam Sadr Foundation seeks to increase access to holistic healthcare throughout South Lebanon by targeting lower income families and by bridging qualitative partnership with national and international organizations such as Lady Fatemah Trust (LFT). The LFT continuous essential drugs valuable donation enriches our health programs providing a wide range of curative and preventive practices, including awareness campaigns, to those who would otherwise be deprived of the right to physical and psychological services.
This year, ISF commemorates its 50 years of on-going educational, vocational, developmental, and health services – gathering the seeds faithfully planted by its founder and charismatic leader Sayyed Mussa Sadr in 1962. In the heart of this devotion were basically deprived people and women. In fact, mainly all ISF's activities and programs are centred on women's empowerment – especially on the socio-economic level – in order to build a strong trustful independent healthy society. For instance, F.S. is an orphan girl who was reared at ISF from her early childhood. Then, as an adolescent, she obtained her BT nursing degree from ISF nursing vocational school and directly worked in the school dispensary of the foundation. She is now a leader in her career, taking care (with her team) of more than 400 orphan girls, continuing her university studies in Psychology and participating to the economic welfare of her family.
Finally, we always look forward to serve the needed by all our means and by God's blessings and his faithful servants' support.
Signed: Sister Ghada El Zein, Health Coordinator & Head of Projects
Health Department, Imam Sadr Foundation, Tyr, 12-02-2012
