LFT maternal health Zanzibar – today we crossed a very special milestone in the quest to preserve every single mother’s life as she brings a new life into this world. Too many mothers suffer and it’s unconscionable that a mother dies in childbirth around the world every 2 minutes.
The LFT’s ground partners in Zanzibar delivered the first 8,000 drapes for mothers as part of our ongoing maternal health program in the country.
This will serve mothers as part of implementing the WHO endorsed emotive program that was developed by Prof Arri Coomarasamy as part of the Gates Foundation supported research on eliminating the highest causes of maternal mortality.
We remain grateful to our partners the Jaffer Family Foundation and all of you who are making the task of saving mothers and babies lives a reality at the Lady Fatemah Trust. We are named after the most blessed of mothers with a mission to save and enhance the lives of millions of mothers around the world. The Minister for Heath Nassor Mazrui accepted these and committed to continue future shipments within his healthcare budget to make the program sustainable. It costs less than $1 to keep mothers safe and the LFT will support the first 50,000 births under this program.
