Mothernomics

Mothernomics is about investing in mothers so families can thrive. When a mother is supported, children eat better, stay in school, and grow up healthier. Through Mothernomics, we help women build small livelihoods, gain skills, and access resources that allow them to provide for their families with dignity. These are not handouts. It is empowerment that lasts.

– Our Work

Empowering Mothers.
Transforming Communities.

For many women, poverty is not just a lack of money. It is a lack of opportunity, safety, and choice. Mothers work endlessly, yet struggle to meet basic needs. They worry about food, school fees, healthcare, and rent. Without support, their potential remains untapped.

Mothernomics focuses on practical solutions. We help women start or grow small businesses, learn marketable skills, and access tools that turn effort into income. When mothers earn, they invest directly in their children and their homes. Communities grow stronger from the inside out.

This approach recognises mothers as leaders, caregivers, and economic drivers. Supporting them creates ripple effects that reach far beyond one household.

Anwar Kadhim’s Story

For a long time I didn’t feel important. I felt distant from society. But the day I went for Ziyarat with the other mothers, wearing the MOM scarf, I felt included and special. I felt proud…”

Anwar Kadhim lost her husband, Murad, in 2015 after he developed kidney failure and spent months on dialysis. Left raising three children, she later also lost the father and brother who had supported her, and felt isolated and hopeless. In 2020, Anwar joined the Mothernomics (MOM) project seeking a way to provide for her family. Two years on, she works in quality control and packaging, has bought a sewing machine in installments, and now also earns from home. Anwar says MOM transformed her mental health, restoring confidence, dignity, and hope for the future.
